Introduction

The Shippon is a 2 bedroom cottage converted from a barn and sleeping 4 people. We have our own parking space at the side of the property and from this you can access the patio garden which has chairs, table, bench and BBQ
A very short stroll back down Mill Lane, past the old church, takes you back into the main part of Askrigg where the is a general store, home made take away & cafe, florists, 2 pubs and restaurants.

The village is famous as part of the setting for All Creatures Great & Small and one of the pubs is still recognisable as the Drovers Arms

  • there are bus connections from both ends of the Dale and from all of the mainline railway stations serving the area
  • The main towns of Leyburn and Hawes are 11 & 6 miles away respectively

Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

  • Both bedrooms are on the first floor and are not suitable for wheelchair access
  • Both bedrooms have fitted carpets
  • Both bedrooms have a ceiling fitted light and 2 bedside lights
  • Both beds are doubles
  • There is good colour contrast between the walls and carpets

Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]

  • There is a good sized family bathroom with a bath & shower (twist mixer taps), wash basin (twist taps) & toilet
  • Also provided are heater, heated towel rail and shaver point
  • The floor surface is linoleum
  • The floor & wall colours contrast well

Self-Catering Kitchen

  • The kitchen is entered from the lounge through a glazed sliding door
  • There is an electric cooker & hob, fridge & freezer, washer dryer & microwave
  • There is also dining table and 4 chairs
  • The kitchen would not be particularly convenient for wheelchair access
  • The sink taps are twist type
  • Kitchen utensils are kept in both wall & under worktop cupboards
  • There is good colour contrast between the floors and walls, the floor being tiled.

Additional Information

  • A fire precaution notice is provided and found on the notice board in the kitchen.
  • Dogs are not allowed and we have to include guide dogs in this so that guests with allergies know that pets have not been in the property previously
  • The Shippon is a no smoking property in all rooms
  • Mobile phone signals are intermittent in the Dales and we suggest that you check with your network provider if full coverage is important to you
